Over the past 25 years I have enjoyed working in different fields of education. I started my career as an engineer in the aircraft industry, taught maths for several years in secondary schools and a 6th form college then became an Assistant Head in a secondary school. I left teaching to join the BBC as the Maths Education Officer where I was responsible for making sure that the content of maths programmes matched teachers’ and learners’ needs. I later became Chief Education Officer and managed a team of 20 who advised on the educational content of TV, radio and online resources across all subjects from primary, through secondary to further education. Since leaving the BBC, as well as completing a Doctorate in Education, I’ve been involved in the production of video, CD and online resources and co-authored a number of books.
